Admissions & Tuition

If you are interested in joining our school, please follow these five steps.

1. Visit our school either privately or at a joint session.
2. Turn in a completed application.
3. We will evaluate your application, and may ask for a student assesment.
4. Pay all intial fees and tuition
5. After all the steps are complete, you will be a member.

During the interview we will provide all information about our school principles and system. We are happy to answer all of your questions. We would like to request you to come to the interview without your children so that we can conduct the interview effectively. If it is difficult for you to leave your children at home, please make sure to contact us in advance.

If you are starting from the 2nd Term or later, you will be asked to sign up for the following school year and, in most cases, may be asked for full payment in order to secure the seat.

School lunch, uniforms, and event photo discs/dvds are ordred from outside private vendors and so we do not offer returns or refunds on these items.

For K3 students who will be graduate and continue in international education, we will provide you with consultation so that you do not incur unnecessary cancellation fees etc. while waiting for acceptance letters from elementary school. Please make an appointment if that becomes necessary.

Each year we get many requests to change after the sign-up period. In order to make a change, there is a ¥2000 administrative fee that is made at the time of the request and does not guarantee that the change is possible.  In addition, instead of re-calculating the fee difference of the new schedule, we will instead add the new schedule. For example, if you signed up for a 2-day program, and ask to increase to a 5-day program, we will issue an invoice for a 3-day program.

If you want to add 1 day, we will calculate 50% of a 2 day program.

Every year we adjust our school tuition based on our running costs, plans for school improvement, and in consideration of external factors such as inflation and changes to the tax rate.

This year, in particular, the external factors play a major role in the tuition increase but are not the only reason. We are always working to improve the quality of our school and our staff in order to provide the best education and care for your children.

Please consider your signup as a contract with the school. When you sign-up we will hold the seat for your child and we are expecting and planning for your child to join for the terms that you have selected.

• Tuition rates are based on terms.
• Tuition can be paid by term or by year.
• Because we base our tuition on the number of days offered each term, our prices are different each term.
• Tuition fees cover school attendance and learning materials.
• Support classes, extra-curricular classes and activities, and the Extended Care program are all billed separately.
• Students allowed to enter during the course of a semester must pay a prorated fee for the remainder of the semester and the following semester.
• Fees includes: Utilities, insurance, materials, snacks and drinks.
• A late fee is charged for tuition not received by the due date
• There will be no refund or deduction for any class missed for any reason.
• There will be no make up lessons for classes missed.
• School Insurance covers injuries occurring on and off the school premises and food poisoning caused by school snacks or catered lunch.

Deposits are due 6 to 7 months before the start of the term. When your deposit is paid, your seat is again held until the remainder of the tuition is paid on the due date.

All Morning Programs will have a ¥50,000 deposit per term regardless of the number of days taken. For families using the Annual Payment option, the deposit is ¥150,000.

This policy is for all programs and services at Joy to the World. Including:Think Club, Keiki Ukulele Club, Kids Hiphop Tokyo, Saturday School, AK, AE (new programs)In the case of one or more positive coronavirus infections occurring at Joy to the World (student or staff), we will work with the Bunkyo Health Office and may close as a school in keeping with their recommendation or as a safety precaution by Joy to prevent the spread of the virus.

In this case, we will not offer refunds, credits, or make-up lessons for canceled classes, Set Extended care, and Bus Maintenance Fees.

However, for lunch service fees, we will issue credits to families affected on the days we close. You can apply lunch service credits towards future services.

We want to remind our families that although we will do our best to continue providing our services to our school community, we take safety very seriously and we thank you for your understanding in the case of a school closure for this reason.

セット延長保育: 忙しいご家庭に柔軟で手頃なサポート

私たちは、保護者の皆様のスケジュールが非常に忙しいことを理解しています。セット延長保育システムは、8:00〜18:45の間、一定の保育が必要なご家庭に、割引価格で便利な保育を提供します。セット延長保育のメリットは以下の通りです:

• 費用の節約: セット延長保育パッケージは、毎日チケットを購入するよりも経済的です。
• 安心感: 学期中、安定したルーティンを確保し、お子様の保育を確実にサポートします。

重要なご注意事項

• 学期全体の契約: 一度購入されたパッケージは、変更や返金ができません。
• 課外クラス: 課外活動への参加は、セット延長保育の料金に影響を与えません。
• 追加の保育: プラン外の延長保育が必要な場合はチケットが必要です。遅いお迎えには、2倍のチケットが必要になります。
• セット延長保育パッケージは、各学期の開始前にのみ購入可能です。スケジュールが変わりやすいご家庭には、通常のチケットシステムの利用をお勧めします。

注意: 18:00〜18:45の「レイト延長保育」は、学期ごとに利用可能状況が異なる場合があります。

After you make the full tuition payment, there is a tiered cancellation fee, see Fee Schedule for details.

This means that if you cancel after making your tuition payment, you can get a partial refund. If you do not cancel by the first day of the term, there is a 100% cancellation fee. (Cancellation fees are a percentage of the tuition paid, minus the non-refundable deposit.)

Important Payment and Program Guidelines

Reserving a Seat

• A seat for Saturday School, Afterschool, or Extra-Curricular Classes or services is held once full payment is received.

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel after making full payment, cancellation fees will apply. The cancellation fee is 100% if the cancellation is made after the term begins.

Invoicing and Payment

• Invoices will be issued shortly after we receive your application or sign-up and are typically due 1 week from the issue date.
• Payments not made by the due date will incur a ¥2,000 late fee.

Changes to Your Program

• Changes made to your program after an invoice has been issued will require a ¥2,000 change fee.
• Changes to the bus service will incur a ¥5,000 fee.

Adjusting Days

• Adding days to your program after an invoice is issued will result in an additional invoice for the new days.
• Reducing days from your program will follow the cancellation fee schedule and will be calculated based on the remaining days' regular fee.

Late Payment Policy

Invoices not paid by the due date will incur a late fee. Please note that repeated late payments may affect your ability to continue enrollment at Joy to the World.

Late Fee Schedule

• Mommy and Me: ¥2,000
• Joy Tots, Pre-Kindergarten, & Kindergarten: ¥5,000
• Afterschool (Kindergarten & Elementary): ¥2,000
• Saturday School: ¥2,000

Sibling Discount: 10% Savings

Families with more than one child enrolled can receive a 10% discount on the course with the lesser value. Please note, this discount does not apply to the Saturday School program.

Full Annual Payment Discount: 3% Savings

Receive a 3% discount when making a full payment of one years annual fee

Eligibility

• ‍Morning Programs Only: A 3% discount is available for full-time morning students enrolled in the 5-day program. This is limited to Joy Tots, Pre-Kindergarten, K1, K2, and K3 classes.

Full Year Enrollment Requirement

• The discount applies to enrollments covering the entire academic year (1st Term to 3rd Term).
• For mid-year enrollments (e.g., starting from the 2nd Term), the discount is available only if the student also signs up for the full next school year. For instance, if a student joins in the 2nd Term, they must sign up for four consecutive terms, including the next three terms, to receive the discount.

K3 Students

• K3 students must enroll in all three terms of the school year to be eligible for the 3% discount. If a K3 student only signs up for two terms, the discount does not apply.

Full Year Payment Terms

• The 3% discount only applies to tuition paid in full for the entire year in advance. It is not applicable for term-by-term payments.

Afterschool & Extra-Curricular Classes

• Afterschool programs (Kindergarten and Elementary) and extra-curricular classes are not eligible for the Full Annual Payment Discount.
